Mideye Server 5 Upgrade Alternatives¶
Upgrade from Mideye Server 4 to Mideye Server 5 requires a Mideye Server 4.6.5 or later. If the Mideye Server 4 is an earlier version it must be upgraded before migration. Download the package here.
When migrating to Mideye Server 5.x there are two alternatives, either install Mideye Server 5 on:
Install Mideye Server 5.x on a new server¶
Migrating to a Mideye Server 5.x that is installed on a new server has the advantage of minimizing the impact on the production environment, since the old Mideye Server 4.x is still up and running, and the only eventual downtime is when directing the traffic from the RADIUS client to the new Mideye Server. Most RADIUS clients can do this redirect without any downtime at all.
- Make sure that Mideye Server 4 is upgraded to R4.6.5 or later.
- Ensure your system meets the requirements outlined in the Pre-install checklist
- Install Mideye Server 5.x according to the installation guide for the operating system in question.
- Follow the Migration Wizard
- Change the RADIUS client (VPN, access point etc.) to point at the new Mideye Server 5.x server.
Install Mideye Server 5.x on the same server as Mideye Server 4.7.2¶
During a migration from Mideye Server 4.7.2 (or at least 4.6.5) the Mideye Server 4.7.2 will be removed before installing Mideye Server 5, this will lead to some downtime of the service on this server. It would be good practise to take a snapshot of the server before uninstalling the Mideye Server 4.x.
- Make sure that Mideye Server 4 is upgraded to at least R4.6.5.
- Ensure your system meets the requirements outlined in the Pre-install checklist.
- Create a new database for the Mideye Server 5.x.
- Go through the Preparation section of the Migration Wizard.
- Uninstall Mideye Server 4.7.2 from the server.
- Restart the server.
- Install Mideye Server 5.x according to the installation guide for the respective operating system.
- When Mideye Server 5.x is finished installing, go to the Web GUI and follow the Migration Wizard
