Accounting

Overview

The Mideye Server’s Accounting Logs provide a comprehensive and detailed view of all successful user login attempts handled by the RADIUS server. This feature enables administrators and support teams to track, analyze, and verify user login activities for monitoring purposes or usage verification, such as generating Monthly Usage reports.

Key Features of the Accounting Logs

  • Successful Login Tracking:
Only successful authentication attempts are displayed in the Accounting Logs. Each entry includes essential details about the user, the RADIUS client, timestamps, and associated metadata.

  • CSV Export Capability:
Administrators can export accounting data to a CSV file. This feature is useful for generating reports, archiving login activity, or performing further analysis using external tools.

  • User Count Summary:
At the top of the Accounting Logs page, a summary displays the number of unique users recorded within the current selection or date range. This helps quickly gauge usage metrics.

Columns Displayed in the Accounting Table

The Accounting Logs table displays the following columns for each successful login:

  • Time:
The precise UTC timestamp indicating when the successful login occurred.

  • Username:
The identity of the user who successfully authenticated. This may include users from internal databases or Active Directory accounts.

  • RADIUS Client Name:
Indicates the specific RADIUS client that processed the authentication request, providing insight into which client or system initiated the request.

  • MSISDN (Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Digital Network Number):
Displays the phone number or Token ID of the user.

  • LDAP Profile Name:
Displays the LDAP profile information for the authenticated user, including the server name. This is useful for identifying which LDAP directory the user is associated with.

  • Group Name:
Indicates the group or role to which the authenticated user belongs. This information is often used to segment or categorize users, such as VPN users.

  • Department Name:
Shows the department associated with the authenticated user, if available. This provides additional context on user organization and roles.

Example Use Cases for Accounting Logs

  • Monthly Usage Verification:
Administrators can use the Accounting Logs to verify the total number of successful logins over a specified period (e.g., monthly). The export feature allows for easy generation of CSV files to review and analyze this data.

  • Monitoring and Analysis:
Administrators can utilize detailed records to track which users successfully authenticated, from which clients, and at what times, aiding in security and operational monitoring.
