Magic Link
Info
This section is regarding the Magic Link authentication type. For Magic Link API as an external endpoint see Magic Link Endpoints.
Magic Link is a zero-footprint authentication alternative for Mideyes end users. Magic Link is not in itself an authentication type in the Mideye Server when using RADIUS, but act as an automatic fallback in Authentication Type 6 (Touch), for users that have not installed the Mideye+ app. Magic Link can also be used for Assisted Login instead of the Mideye+ app.
How does it work?¶
Users receive a Mideye Link sent to their mobile phone via SMS.
The SMS contains a Mideye Link that opens a web page where the user can accept or reject the login. This gives the user a streamlined experience without the need for entering an OTP when logging in.
After authenticating the user is given the possibility to download the Mideye+ app to make the authentication flow ever easier next time.
Technical implementation¶
There is no need for RADIUS challenge-response for Magic Link to work, just as with Mideye+ app. This enables secure two-factor authentication logins in environments where the RADIUS Client simply does not support RADIUS challenge-response.
The Macic Link is sent to the users mobile phone based on the mobile number stored in the organisations user repository. No need for input from the end-user to activate the functionality.
